Putin: Price growth in Russia incomparable with scope of problems
ANOSINO, Moscow Region, Jan 29 (PRIME) -- The price rise for essential products in Russian stores has far outshot the real scope of problems that the country faces, President Vladimir Putin said at a meeting with regional authorities on Thursday.
“We must pay special attention to the market of food and other essential products. I am asking you to constantly look after the situation and to take timely measures,” Putin said.
“We know well about the price increase and not always the reasons about what is happening outside are justifiable… we must not allow anyone to speculate on problems, and we do have some problems. But the price growth scope and these problems are incomparable.”
Prosecutors have revealed unjustified price growth of as much as 400% for food and medicine, Prosecutor General Yury Chaika told PRIME earlier on Thursday.
